LANSING―State Sen. Patrick Colbeck, R-Canton, addressed members of the Michigan Business Aviation Association at the state Capitol on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. Colbeck presented the group with a copy of Senate Resolution 18 that officially recognizes February 27 through March 5, 2011 as Michigan Aviation Week.
In his remarks, Sen. Colbeck talked about the broad impact the aviation industry can have on our state, citing as an example the powerful draw that aviation can have on a young child. The fascination with flight can excite kids and spark their imaginations, encouraging them to stay in school and set lofty goals.
Colbeck holds a Bachelor and Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan and has worked on systems aboard the International Space Station. In addition, he worked on the FAA’s ADS-B Program and as a certification engineer for an air cargo company working closely with the FAA.
