LANSING, Mich.—The Board of the Police Officers Association of Michigan (POAM) on Friday presented State Sen. Patrick Colbeck with the prestigious Legislator of the Year Award.
“Senator Colbeck has been an active supporter of the law enforcement community and looks out for the safety of the citizens we protect,” said Ken Grabowski, legislative director for POAM. “He does what’s ‘right’ for our community.”
Colbeck has proven to be a strong advocate for public safety during his first term in elected office. Under the senator’s leadership as chairman of the State Police and Department of Military and Veterans Affairs budgets, Michigan has made significant improvements in public safety via school safety grants, additional police, additional truck weight enforcement officers, and performance-based budgeting.
“It is truly an honor to be recognized for my service by those who put their lives on the line in service to our community,” said Colbeck, R-Canton.
