Economy

Article 1, Section 1 of the Michigan Constitution states that the power inherent in our government is instituted for the “equal benefit” of all our people.  Nowhere do we fail to comply more with this constitutional provision than when the state “picks winners and losers” via economic development policies that financially benefit the best interests of an individual business or a single industry sector over the best interests of all of our citizens.  Economic development policies should protect individual liberties and provide broad-based economic development incentives that apply equally to our citizens.
