Healthcare Reform Strategy

A Free Market Healthcare Reform Strategy

On June 6, 2009, President Barack Obama outlined the objectives of healthcare reform for our nation. In his address, he stated that

“any health care reform must be built around fundamental reforms that lower costs, improve quality and coverage, and also protect consumer choiceThat means if you like the plan you have, you can keep it.  If you like the doctor you have, you can keep your doctor, too.  The only change you’ll see are falling costs as our reforms take hold.”

Now that we have read the resulting legislation known as Obamacare and have struggled to effectively implement the resulting healthcare system, it is clear that our nation has fallen short of these objectives. The good news is that we truly can achieve these objectives. In order to do so, I believe that we need to look at where these objectives have actually been achieved in the healthcare industry – most notably laser eye surgery and plastic surgery. What do these services have in common? The free market

Our Patient-Centered Care Solution is based on free market principles of competition, transparency and customer service. Once fully implemented in our state, Michigan would become a destination state for employers seeking high quality healthcare at an affordable price. More employers means more jobs. More jobs means a better quality of life for your entire family.
