New episode of Sen. Colbecks Lansing From a New Perspective airing now

LANSING, Mich.—Local cable stations are now airing September’s episode of Lansing From a New Perspective, moderated by Sen. Patrick Colbeck, R-Canton. This month’s guest is Jenifer Esch, consumer programs administrator at the Michigan Department of Attorney General.

The show seeks to inform seniors about some of the scams and frauds aimed particularly at the elderly. In addition, Esch talks about the attorney general’s Senior Brigade – a group of trained presenters that hold a variety of senior safety seminars statewide.

In addition to the show, Colbeck will be hosting a senior seminar with a member of the Senior Brigade titled “Avoiding Phone and Mail Scams.” The event will take place at the Northville Community Senior Center, located at 303 West Main Street in Northville on Friday, Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. The event is free.

“There are people out there perpetuating new scams every day,” Colbeck said. “Seniors are often targeted by scams and it is frustrating to hear about how they have been victimized after the fact. By watching this show, and attending my upcoming seminar in Northville, seniors can recognize these scams and not become victims.”

The show is scheduled to run on the Comcast cable system on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.; on Channel 12 of Van Buren Township’s cable system VBTV on Mondays and Thursdays at 2 p.m. and 11 p.m.; and Sumpter Township’s Community Access Channel, Channel 12, at various times daily.
