LANSING, Mich.—Sen. Patrick Colbeck, R-Canton, issued the following statement regarding to the re-launch of his state Senate website Thursday:

“One of my commitments to you when I ran for office was to 'adopt real transparency.' In keeping with this commitment, I am pleased to announce the launch of a refreshed Senate website to better inform my constituents. The website address is www.SenatorPatrickColbeck.com.

“The centerpiece of the new website is the Solution Center, which can be found under Constituent Resources. As many of you are aware, I have made a habit out of going beyond saying ‘no’ to legislation that I oppose, and I seek to provide viable alternatives. The Solution Center provides links to presentations that I have made to other elected officials on a variety of topics, including my free market alternative to Obamacare, known as the Patient-Centered Care Solution.

“The Constituent Resources section of the website also includes links to a Data Center, Veterans Resources, Senior Resources, Family Resources, Office Hours and other useful links. Among a long list of useful information, the Data Center contains a link to a comprehensive listing of services on which the state spends your tax money. The data was made possible through the transparency legislation that I introduced and passed last year. This data empowers you with practical information on how your tax dollars are spent. See www.TenMillionAccountants.com for more information.

“In addition to the Constituent Resources section, there is also a refreshed Communications section featuring a comprehensive list of press releases, editorials, floor speeches, and episodes of ‘Lansing from a New Perspective.’ My website also includes a link to ‘Jobs Near You.’ The link will take you to the state of Michigan Talent Connect website where you can find a listing of jobs within 50 miles of the 7th Senate District.

“In our 7th Senate District office, we have been striving for transparency that goes well beyond our Senate website. On my Senator Patrick Colbeck page, I provide regular postings on matters pertinent to the operation of our state government, including the rationale for my votes on your behalf. In addition to our online presence, we conduct regular office hours at various locations throughout the 7th District. If these office hours conflict with your schedule, my helpful office team in Lansing can be reached at (517) 373-7350.

“I am a firm believer that we should know more about the government than the government knows about us. It is my hope that by providing constituents with the data behind the decisions, we can spark more thoughtful, fact-based discussions about what is in the best interests of our residents, our communities and our state. I will continue to strive to implement ‘real transparency’ as it pertains to my service as your state senator.”
