Education Standards

Math and English Language Arts

Prior to Senator Colbeck being elected, the national “Common Core Standards” for Math and English Language Arts were adopted by the Michigan State Board of Education in July 2010.  Senator Colbeck has been an outspoken opponent of these standards.  This opposition is founded in the observation that Common Core standards dilute local control and have not been demonstrated to improve education performance.  In fact, there is ample evidence that they have had a negative impact upon education performance.

It is imperative for the quality of our next generation of leaders that we repeal the Common Core Standards in Michigan.
