Sen. Colbeck adding office hours in Canton

LANSING, Mich.— As part of an effort to reach residents from across the 7th Senate District, state Sen. Patrick Colbeck’s regular in-district office hours will be rotating locations to include a Canton meeting beginning in March. Colbeck’s In-District Manager Jennifer Trussell will be available to assist residents with any problems related to their interactions with state government.

The new office hours will be held one evening a month at the Canton District Library. Currently office hours are scheduled for March 8 and April 12.

Date: Thursday, March 8th and April 12th
Time: 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Location: 1200 South Canton Center Road, Canton, Purple Room

In addition to meeting with residents, Trussell will also be accepting donations for the new Freedom Center at Metro Airport. This facility, opened in November of 2011, provides a place for active and retired military personal and their families to gather in a quiet, private area while traveling through the airport.

The Freedom Center is currently in need of the following items:
*Keurig k-cups (coffee, decaf, hot chocolate, apple cider, hot teas, iced drinks)
*Bottled water
*Non-carbonated drinks (Gatorade, Life Water, etc)
*Soda / pop
*Paper towels
*Plastic silverware
*Sugar packets
*Cream for coffee (individual liquid cups or bottles)
*Sweetener packets
*Coffee stirrers
*Styrofoam cups (12 and 16 oz size)
*Lids for Styrofoam cups*Snacks (peanut packs, animal cracker packs, fruit roll-ups & fruit snacks, cracker packs, granola bars, pretzels)
*Fresh fruit (apples, bananas, oranges, grapes)
*Sanitizer wipes (Clorox, Lysol, etc.)
*Note pads
*Hand Sanitizer
*Frozen “dinners”
*Microwave snacks (Chef Boyardee, soups, mac & cheese, etc)
*Individual servings of apple sauce, Jell-o, and pudding
*travel size toothpaste
*boxes of bandaids
*cough drops

“The Freedom Center at Metro Airport is open and available for members of our military to relax and enjoy time with family members while passing through the airport,” Colbeck said. “The Center is currently in need of items that will make their brief stop there more convenient and stress-free. Donating items to the Center is one way that we can show our appreciation for their service to us and to our country.”
