Sen. Colbeck issues statement following Gov. Snyder’s 2012 State of the State address

LANSING, Mich.—State Sen. Patrick Colbeck, R-Canton, issued the following statement tonight after Gov. Rick Snyder’s State of the State address:

“Last year Governor Snyder ushered in a new era of governance in Michigan, and in working together with his administration and the House of Representatives we saw many positive changes during that time. Unemployment levels are down. Business investment is up. And the long-term economic outlook for our state is near best in the nation.

“Through my legislative efforts I’m pleased to have helped facilitate some of the governor’s initiatives this past year, including metrics-based budgeting for our State Police and Department of Military and Veteran’s Affairs that promotes greater transparency in our state budgets and expanded school choice opportunities for our children.

“While we are off to a great start, there is still more work to be done. So as the governor laid out his plan tonight to continue the reinvention of our state, I remain committed to working with him and my colleagues with the goal of making Michigan the best place in the nation to live, work and play.”
